It’s pouring in Kerala!

18 Jun

After crunching that super sumptuous breakfast at Madurai, team Tantalizing India knew we had a lot to cover today. We started off by driving through lovely landscapes and windmills en route Kanyakumari.

Post Kanyakumari, we started driving towards Trivandrum upon reaching which we had an interview scheduled with Asia Net News. Just prior to the interview with Asia Net News, we helped ourselves to some quick lunch by picking on some kerala parathas and sambar.

Our next stop was Alappuzha. It took us quite a while to get there. Kerala’s been pouring with rain and there was way too much traffic that we had to beat. We reached Alappuzha finally at 21:30 hours and checked into Ratheesh’s house.

After helping ourselves to some good home food and taking a quick shower, we wrapped ourselves in the typical Kasavu Mundu and at 23:00 hrs we hit the road to reach our next destination – Ernakulum.

Tantalizing Breakfast at Madurai!

17 Jun

Exciting times for Tantalizing India. We started off from Bangalore at 18:00 hrs and hopped on to Vellore post which we made a pitstop at Chennai. Caught up with a couple of friends and gave an hour long interview to Channel News X. [A Group Channel of 9x]

News X had a lot of questions to ask. Why we were doing this. What motivated us. What was the underlying factor. Why do this now. Were our families supportive. What happens if we don’t make it. The works. All of which we answered turn by turn, one at a time. When will this footage be telecast? Well, as soon as we hear from the Channel, you’ll hear from us.

At about 01:30 hrs we left Chennai for Pondycherry. We landed up at Pondycherry at 03:30 hrs early morning and after some ‘kadak chai’ and a few hearty laughs, fired off towards Madurai.

Having finished our clocking formalities, we headed to a small joint called ‘Kappalur Restaurant’ for breakfast. After spending some time with the owner Mr.A Ravi and staff on when and how they started the restaurant and how long they’d been there, we started talking to their Master Chef Mr.Arumugan on what his speciality was and what we should eat.

Mr.Arumugan recommended that we try his ‘Mouttai Dosai’ – which is Dosa with a couple of fried eggs – sunny side up. No sooner he said that, me and Sameer headed straight to his baking plate and heres the best part – Mr. Arumugan helped us create our own breakfast. Sameer and me actually made Mottai Dosai on our own – but of-course following Mr.Arumugan’s instructions.

After having the sumptuous Mouttai Dosai, we were left craving for more and Ratheesh called in for some steamed iddlies. While we gobbled those iddlies in no time, Mr.Arumuagan, brought in his speciality – Onion Roast Dosai. Ah, tantalizing indeed! – were our words upon having the first bite.

Small joint – ‘Kappalur Restaurant’ – but by all means an experience to cherish and remember. It is small things like these – that to us matter much. We hope you enjoy this piece as we certainly did enjoy bringing this to you. So long!

And we’re off!

Team Tantalizing India finally flagged off today at 18:30 hrs from M.G. Road Mayo Hall in Bangalore. Our car’s been decked up with a lot of branding. Tantalizing India branding and our Sponsor Partners Branding.

We’d like to officially welcome all our Sponsor Partners on board:

We’d like to thank each and every one of our Sponsor Partners for being a part of Tantalizing India from the bottom of our hearts. Gracias!

Now then, about time we showed you glimpses of how we started. Here goes:

Our first stop: Vellore. Then on, dinner at Chennai. Sameer’s on the wheel. Ratheesh is our star navigator.

We’re using a Nokia n900 with OviMaps for our navigation. I’m on the camera and my macbook pro doing the storyboard. Internet powered by Tata Photon Plus. Works like a charm. Had to upload a 4 mb file. Thought it would take ages. But Tata Photon Plus – take a bow – couple of minutes and the upload was done.

We’re all excited as part of Tantalizing India and intend to bring to you the very best of India! Keep watching this space for constant updates!

Tantalizing India? Ahem?
To cut a long story short, three friends – Sameer Siddique, Ratheesh Kumar and Aadil Bandukwala intend to travel to each and every state in India including that particular state’s capital city in a Car covering a distance of more than 16000 kilometers in less than 18 Days.

We will attempt this in a Ford Endeavor and our journey will originate and terminate at Bangalore. We intend to do this purely out of passion for travel. We’ve done short and long drives before but having said that nothing like doing an India long haul.

The three of us are big time travel aficionados and recently came to know that some one did this same feat in 19 days and 23 hours which was festered as a record by Limca Book of Records. We intend to crack shack this feat and will be striving to break this record in less than 18 days. 28 States and 5 Union Territories including the National Capital Territory of Delhi is what we intend to touch. A minimum distance of 16,000 km will be covered between the starting and finishing point – Bangalore.

To know more about our route, feel free to take a look at the map embedded on our homepage. Elsewise, take a look below:
